Developed In The 1860S And 70S As An Alternative To Ivory, Celluloid Was The First Synthetic Plastic Material Ever Made. Celluloid Plastic Was Eventually Phased Out With Acetate Taking Its Place Due To It Being Highly Flammable. The Advantages Of Celluloid Frames Opposed To Acetate Is It'S Heavier Weight, Glossier Finish And Ability To Less Likely Deform With Wear. There Are Only A Few Factories In Japan Still Producing Celluloid Today, Making Glasses Of This Calibre Highly Sought After.
